Do you know what's in your shampoo? You would think that an essential product like shampoo would not contain harmful chemicals but that's not necessarily the case. For instance, most contain fragrance which is basically a concoction of chemicals that have not been tested for safety.
I have been searching for a clean shampoo for a while that I like. I have switched shampoos around quite a bit because they tend to irritate my scalp or they just don't work with my hair type.
I came across Evolvh when I was looking for a clean polishing balm for my hair type, a mighty task I must add. I have thick hair that is not the easiest to style but love that smooth polished look. I have switched styling products a lot and find that a lot of the clean(er) ones don't work that well, at least for me.
My breaking point came when I ordered a styling product that I thought was clean from Amazon only to discover that it did indeed have fragrance and a very small amount of natural component to it. The labeling was very misleading and I fell trap to it.
I came across Evolvh by accident on the internet and loved the brand from the get go. I was instantly drawn to their safe beauty initiatives. Not only do they not include classic red flags like sulfates, parabens and phthalates in their products, they also use essential oils and clean aroma molecules and are therefore IFRA compliant. They also use a safe but effective preservative approved for use in natural cosmetics that includes dehydroacetic acid (DHA) and benzyl alcohol.
Does it get any better? It does.
They have this system which they call a Discovery Kit and it actually enables you to try four products at a reasonable price based on your hair type. I have used this smooth Discovery Kit for 3 weeks and probably have about 2 more weeks to go. I have to add here that I wash my hair twice a week. It's what works for me. My hair is shoulder length so that determines too how much product I use. In any event, we tend to use way too much product with skin and haircare but that's a topic for another day.
Here's what in your kit:
1. Moisture shampoo: This color-safe shampoo is appropriate for all hair types and lathers pretty well even though it does not contain any sulfates. It contains antioxidants, aminos (protein building blocks) and fatty acids to ensure that your hair remains healthy. I use my hair scalp massager to massage it into my scalp. My hair is left feeling clean, soft and healthy. Maintaining moisture levels also helps increase color retention if you dye your hair.
2. Moisture conditioner: All you need is a little bit of this product. It is creamy in consistency. I run it from my roots to my ends and let it sit for a few minutes. It helps detangle, smooth and control frizz and feels very luxurious. The conditioner contains aminos and fatty acids too as well as nourishing antioxidants to help restore hair health.
3. Leave-in conditioner: The must-have third step for good hair that most of us don't do! I use this in the morning as a refresher. It has really helped keep my ends from getting too dry and keep frizz at bay. I love it! I'm new to this third step so my biggest challenge is remembering to use it.
4. Styling balm: The product that got me to Evolvh! I can't say enough good things about this one! All it takes is a little bit of product at a time. My hair is a little on the wavy side and will frizz when it's humid. This balm does a great job at helping me achieve that smooth polished look easily. If I do a good job with my blowout, it will last me 2-3 days which is nice.
I love that all these products are safe and actually work with my hair. They have a Discovery Kit for volume, curls and color-treated hair so there's something for everyone. I have a discount code for you if you want to try a Discovery Kit. Just use PEONIES15 and you will receive 15% off your order. I know you will love this brand! When you treat your hair well, it shows!
I'll be sharing more of my experience with this brand on stories so make sure to follow along!
