LIFE LATELY :: Why I Joined Beautycounter

Happy Friday!  I have some exciting news to share.  I have joined Beautycounter as a consultant!  I am thrilled to start on this journey and see where it takes me.  I wanted to share with you how I arrived at this decision and what you can expect to see in the blog moving forward.

As I have mentioned previously in posts, a few years ago I started to develop sensitivities to cleaning products I was using.  I would cough or get skin rashes if I got some product on my hands.  This inspired me to take a good look at what I was exposing myself on a daily basis.  I started looking at cleaning products and then moved onto beauty products. It was mind-blowing.  To think that the products I was purchasing at the store had unsafe ingredients was very disturbing.

Over time, I started to switch to safer products for myself and around the house.  For beauty products, I have tried numerous "natural" brands and I discovered that even "natural" brands can have harmful ingredients.  They get you to buy their products because seeing "natural" on the box makes us feel better but natural and safe are not always the same thing.

This takes me to Beautycounter.  I stumbled upon the brand on Instagram and I was captivated by their mission to get clean products onto everybody's hands.  Beautycounter has a NEVER LIST of ingredients that are known to be harmful that you will never find in their products.  If you check the cosmetic database, you will find that most products score a rating of 1 (safest products) and a lot are EWG certified which means they meet the strictest standards for our health.  This gives me peace of mind.  The products can be pricey but they do last a while since they are very concentrated because they don't use fillers.

I have used Beautycounter products for a while now and have not ran into one I don't like yet.  As a Mom and a teacher, I feel very strongly about their mission to educate people so that they are empowered to make safe choices as they purchase beauty products.

So what can you expect to see in the blog moving forward?  Nothing much is going to change.  I plan to do Instagram stories on ingredients in the Never List so you, as a reader, can gain a general sense of what to avoid and why.  Beauty posts will still be limited to about 3/month and I will review both Beautycounter products and other products that I use and like.  If you see me review a product you can rest assured that I absolutely love it.  I have had access to products to review that I have not shared because I haven't liked them.  More than anything, I want to become a trustworthy resource to you if you have any questions about ingredients in cosmetics or Beautycounter products.

Thank you so much for your support of this new and exciting venture!  I'm thrilled to be a small part of this company that is the number 1 trending beauty brand of 2018.  I've added a Beautycounter tab to the menu at the top of the blog for easy access to my Beautycounter consultant page.
