Turmeric Protein Snack Balls

These snack balls are free of gluten and dairy.

Happy Sunday Friends!  I have a new found love for turmeric.  I purchased a mix for golden milk early spring and then I forgot about it.  Once school started I started drinking golden milk before bedtime to help me wind down.  This past week I decided to try the mix in a smoothie, which I shared on Instagram, and the results were amazing.  It is absolutely delicious!  I must admit I was a little skeptical at first though.

After that smoothie, I started to think about snack balls with turmeric, something easy, low in sugar but filling that I could enjoy on the go.  These snack balls check all the boxes. Here are the details:

Ingredients:
  • 6 dates (soak in water beforehand)
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 scoop Vegan Smart pea protein powder (vanilla)
  • 1/4 cup Jarrow's golden milk mix (2 scoops)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts
***************************************************************
Soak the dates for a few hours beforehand so that they blend more easily.  Blend with the rest of the ingredients (minus the protein powder) in a blender until everything is well incorporated.  Mix in the protein powder last.  Place the mix in the fridge for about 15 to 20 minutes until it hardens.  Scoop out 1.5 tbs of mix and roll into balls in your hand.  Place the balls on wax paper on a plate and return to the fridge for about 10 minutes.  Store in an airtight container in the fridge since they will melt at higher room temperatures.

Here are the nutrition details.  These snack balls will definitely curb a sugar craving.  If you want to lower the fat content, you can use a 1 tbsp scoop to make your balls.  They are low in sugar, flavorful and filling.

These snack balls are high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory molecules, two necessary allies in our very busy lives, don't you think?
