Are you feeling burnt out after the past months? Truth be said, most of us have been wearing a lot of different hats at once. All of us have been displaced, isolated from friends and family. Under these conditions, it's easy to lose your balance.
The situation is slowly improving but this summer is looking a lot different than usual. I'm still excited about it though. I wanted to share five things that I regularly practice and help me keep my balance.
1. Exercise :: This one doesn't come easy for me. I don't seem to be able to keep up my motivation. I've been really diving into the YouTube videos at home lately though. I like barre and have been following the Action Jacquelin channel on YouTube. Her workouts are very doable and can be done in under 15 minutes. I don't break a sweat but I do feel sore the next day so I know I'm working muscles. I try to do a couple of them at a time and mix it up with cardio at least every other day.
2. Meditate :: I am slowly building up a routine here. I find it very helpful to meditate. I have tried a lot of apps and my favorite free app to date is "Smiling Mind"- have you tried it? I also like the "Five Minute Journal". It only takes 5 minutes a day but it makes all the difference and really helps change my perspective on the tougher days.
3. Going for a walk :: Nothing like getting outdoors! We have been going to a state park near us with the kids pretty much daily since the weather got nicer. It just really helps to get outside and get moving. Everybody's happier after a long walk.
4. Reading :: I'm still working on being consistent with this but I simply haven't found the magic formula. I do find that books are the perfect escape.
5. Self-care :: A mani or pedi can have a transformative effect on me. There's something about that fresh coat of color and glossy finish that just works wonders on me. I also like to put on this mask weekly with these eye masks. It's very relaxing and my skin loves it.
