FRIDAY FIVE :: Allergen Friendly Halloween Candy

Happy Friday!  As Halloween approaches, it's only fitting that we talk about candy, don't you think?  Being gluten-free and dairy-free (both allergies) can be tough around times like Halloween when you are surrounded by candy.  I was reminded about this when my daughter brought a notice about a Halloween party they are having in her class.  They will be swapping pumpkins with treat that day.  Peanut allergies were included in the notice but gluten was left out.  Why is gluten always forgotten?

Having food allergies does not mean that you cannot enjoy candy.  Since I have both dairy and wheat restrictions, I have included candy in this post that is good for both.  I always make sure I have some on hand for that night so I can join in on the fun.

I love No Whey Foods candy.  They are the first brand that I discovered after my daughter and I were diagnosed.  I think they do a great job and they are now available on Amazon-  does it get any better?

Here are some of my favorites:

1.  These Ricemilk Crunch Minis have my name all over them.  They feel like a small treat and fit perfectly in my lunch bag-  just saying!

2.  These Halloween lollipops are a must with the younger crowd.  They are fun!  You usually see them by the checkout line at Whole Foods and my kiddos are drawn to them.  This version is safe for them!

3.  The Choco No No's are an allergen-free fun alternative to the M & M's that all the kiddos love.  You will finish the bag before you know it!

4.  I'm a big fan of peanut butter so if you add chocolate to it all the better.  These Pea Not Cups are a safe alternative for kiddos with a nut allergy.

5.  Not a fan of chocolate?  These gummy fruits are yummy, allergen-safe and free or artificial dyes which I like to avoid with my crew.

Have you tried any of these?  If you have food allergies too, what is your favorite treat?
